neodrive
A downloadable demo for Windows, macOS, and Linux
wanted to make an arcade racer with my own brand of insanity. requires a controller. windows only right now but i'll add support for other OSes in the future
Tips
- To start the car, hold the clutch down and press START
- To launch the car, shift into first gear and release the clutch while holding down the gas
- The engine makes peak power around 6500 RPM
- Unless you're launching the car, dropping below 1500 RPM will stall it
- Shifting down into a gear that requires a higher RPM than the engine is capable of (money shift) will also stall the engine
- Launching at peak power is a perfect launch, and is acknowledged
- Rev matching your shifts is also acknowledged
Controls
- LT: Brake
- RT: Gas
- LB: Clutch
- RB + Right Stick: Camera
- Right Stick Up (with clutch pressed): gear up
- Right Stick Down (with clutch pressed): gear down
- Left Stick: Steer, flip vehicle if turned over
- A: handbrake (tap A to disable TCS and start a drift, hold A for handbrake)
- D-Pad Up: Cycle camera
- D-pad Down: Toggle telemetry
- Y: Boost (when meter is in the blue)
You can gain boost from drifting, turning at the limit right before TCS kicks in, and rev-matching your shifts.
Other info
- engine sounds generated by EngineSim Community Edition
- car engine is a recreation of the March-Buick 85G IMSA GTP
- other sounds are Unity assets and CC-0 stuff from freesound.org
- exo-prototype car model is designed by me
- all the dials and UI are generated via code by p5-js

Nintendo Switch 1 Pro Controller doesn't seem to be able to gas
I assume this is because it lacks analog triggers
Tried to emulate them via Steam Input, unsuccessful
yeah pro controllers are weird, i've had issues using them on PC in the past. i'll add a control rebinder at some point in the future, thanks for letting me know
